Gen Z women are talking about quitting nicotine on TikTok.

Aug 29 2025

Gen Z women are talking about quitting nicotine on TikTok. According to YPulse, in 2024, over a quarter (28%) of 18-24-year-olds vaped weekly or more—a significant jump from just 18% in 2019 when Millennials were this age. Daily vaping had skyrocketed even more dramatically, rising from 8% to 22% over the same period. But now, what was once seen as trendy and cool has become embarrassing, with vaping now viewed as childish—literally being called “adult pacifiers” by some young women online. It seems like they’re tired of being overly reliant on “something that can literally ruin [their] insides.” In turn, Gen Z women are turning their quitting journeys into TikTok content, sharing everything from throwing vapes in water to chewing through bags of gum to satisfy their oral fixation. The #QuitNic hashtag (12K posts) has become a way to signal that they’re over the habit, and many creators are promoting alternative nicotine products like mints and lozenges to help others make the same change. (The Cut)
