The housing crisis in Paris is worsening, even for Gen Z with well-paying jobs. Despite decent salaries and stable jobs, young professionals in Paris are struggling to find affordable housing. Even those earning €2.5-3K per month and backed by guarantors face fierce competition, landlords preferring couples or tourists, and rising rents that eat up to 50% of their income. Apps like Jinka and DossierFacile aim to simplify the search, but with too many people showing up to group visits and landlords frequently rejecting applicants, they offer little relief. Plus, government solutions like the Visale guarantor, a free government backed program that acts as a rental guarantee for people under 30-years-old, are often rejected by landlords, too. In response, Paris launched a €50M Affordable Housing Fund to help middle-income earners access rentals 25% below market price, yet there still isn’t a solution specifically for young people.
