Another egg campaign has gone viral, this time by skincare brand The Ordinary. At their shops in New York City, the brand offered a limited number of “ordinarily priced eggs” for $3.37, and because that price is almost unheard of right now, it’s no surprise that it sold out quickly. The announcement of this pseudo-pop-up shop got tons of attention, racking in more than 100K likes on Instagram alone. And while it got tons of positive response, not all brand fans were happy—for more than one reason, too. The move seems to align with the brand’s value of affordability for quality skincare ingredients, but many pointed out that it doesn’t align with being a vegan and cruelty free brand by selling animal products. Others noted that the marketing brand MSCHF, who are known for stunt marketing, was tagged in promo posts, leaving a feeling that this was just for virality and not a genuine effort. (The Cut)
