Millennial parents aren’t sure they can afford to have more kids, even if they want to.

Millennial parents aren’t sure they can afford to have more kids, even if they want to. YPulse data shows 25-39-year-old parents have an average of two kids—but even two is becoming a financial stretch for many. Between skyrocketing childcare expenses, student loan debt, and rising everyday costs like groceries and transportation, many parents are finding that they simply can’t afford to have more kids. (Not to mention the cost of healthcare for childbirth is rising and putting families in debt, too.) Business Insider estimates that parents are spending around $26K per year to raise a child, so even dual-incomes families feel stretched thin with one kid. And though having two children is seen as ideal for half of Americans with only one child, a lot of Millennials don’t think it will be an option. (Business Insider)
