A social search platform aimed at young women is gaining interest—and millions in funding. Though it was founded in 2020, Diem has seen a surge of activity and sign-ups over the last couple of months: a reported 400% increase in searches since December, a 700% increase in post interactions, and a 115% increase in monthly active users. The app’s target audience is young women and LGBTQ+ people, who may now be looking to escape other social platforms they would usually search for opinions on. After Mark Zuckerberg said corporate America needed more “masculine energy” and TikTok thanked President Trump for resolving a content ban, this userbase seems to be looking for a more inclusive space to connect online. Like Reddit, Diem users can pose questions and get crowd-sourced answers and also access a “treat shop”—not unlike TikTok Shop where brands can advertise products. (Fortune)
