Is the appeal of the “Costco boys” political or simple suburban normalcy? A group of TikTokers including “the Costco boys” A.J. and Eric “Big Justice” Befumo, “the Rizzler” Christian Joseph, and “Jersey Joe” have gained notoriety this year, the first three making it onto The Tonight Show last month. And while none of them post explicitly political content—with the Befumo family even saying it’s “not in their wheelhouse”—their predominantly white, male audiences have placed them in the “bro internet” that leans heavily right-wing. However, the Befumo family channels mostly post silly, affectionate family time (okay, and some cringe rap) which stands out against the Andrew Tate style content pushing cold masculinity. That doesn’t mean there’s no basis to the politicization though—their content often prominently features American flags and the audience they draw does appear to favor conservatism. (Vox)
