Streamer Ms. Pinky wants to pave the way for Black women in the gaming space.

Streamer Ms. Pinky wants to pave the way for Black women in the gaming space. YPulse told you about the ways brands are supporting young female gamers in the industry—but some popular streamers are also doing what they can to support more diverse demographics as well. Our Gaming research found that 48% of Black young consumers say gaming culture isn’t inclusive enough—and streamer Austreah Garnes (a.k.a Ms. Pinky), who has amassed a large following across Twitch, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook, is trying to support other Black female gamers by connecting with them on her accounts and communities. She’s an active member of communities like Noir Network, Black Girl Gamers, Brown Girl Gamer Code, and Thumbstick Mafia. She said: “Growing up, I didn’t see a lot of Black women in the gaming space, and if there were Black women gamers, they were hidden from us. Because of this, I make sure that I’m loud and proud when I tell people I’m a gamer.” (The Daily Dot)
