Popular U.S. secondhand clothing marketplace ThredUP is heading to Europe. YPulse research shows that in the U.S., young consumers’ fears about climate change are impacting their purchases, leading them to lean hard into secondhand shopping, whether through thrift shops, resale platforms, or rentals. The used clothing trend is expanding in Europe, too, with the secondhand market estimated to be worth $21 billion in 2020 and expected to grow to $39 billion by 2025, according to GlobalData’s 2021 Market Sizing and Growth Estimates for European Demand-Side Secondhand Market. Betting on this European secondhand boom, ThredUP sealed its plans to expand to the continent with the acquisition of Remix Global AD, one of Europe’s leading fashion resale companies. (Forbes)
