Gen Z is more likely to identify as LGBTQ+. According to a survey from global data firm Ipsos, people 24-years-old and younger are twice as likely to identify as non-straight compared to people over 40. The survey also found that less than 1% of Baby Boomers identify as something other than binary, while 4% of Gen Z identifies as transgender, non-binary, non-conforming, genderfluid, or “in another way.” YPulse’s data also reported that 32% of Gen Z identifies as LGBTQ+ compared to 17% of Millennials. As this next generation continues to age up, it’s not only important for brands to align with LGBTQ+ values but for them to understand the young people who are part of the community as well.
