SAT test scores are down—and that’s a good thing. The mean SAT score fell from 1068 to 1059 out of 1600, when compared to last year, and administrators say the drop is because their test-taking pool is becoming more inclusive. The percentage of testers that had the chance to take the SAT during the school day rose from 36% to 46%, and many took the test for free—both of which are common barriers for under-represented and low-income students. Meanwhile, many colleges are lifting their SAT/ACT requirements altogether. (WSJ)
