Millennials are the most financially insecure generation today, and social media may play a part. According to Charles Schwab, two-thirds of 23-38-year-olds live paycheck-to-paycheck and just 38% feel financially stable. Nearly half say social media impacts their purchasing, which might explain why they spend an average of $478 per month on “nonessential” purchases, second only to Gen X’s spend. But blaming entertainment and avocado toast doesn’t tell the full story: they’re also mired in debt. (CNBC, MarketWatch)
