Callaway and Good Good are facing backlash for an ad of a woman being tackled.

Callaway and Good Good are facing backlash for an ad of a woman being tackled. The golf equipment brand and popular YouTube golf channel (2M+ subscribers) released a promo for a co-branded driver in which Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark shoves fellow member Alexis Miestowski to the ground as she reaches for the club, then stands over her saying, “Do not touch my new driver.” The ad was pulled within a day amid intense backlash, with Callaway’s CEO later calling their approval of it a failure of internal process, and announcing both internal and external investigations. 7UP turned a pub hot pink for their new mocktail.

7UP turned a pub hot pink for their new mocktail. Like a classic British shandy, the Pink Shandy 0.0% is a lager with a fruity mixer—except it’s 7UP’s new no-alc lager and sugar-free pink lemonade. To match the drink, Clapham’s The Perky Nel pub was drenched in pink and temporarily renamed “The Pink Nel.” It’s not the only pub that got this treatment: The Pink Nel also went on tour to Liverpool, Manchester, and Brighton throughout August. We’ve said before that while young Brits certainly have not given up drinking or traditional pub culture, low- and no-alcohol drinks are intriguing to them and can become part of their mix, even if they’re not a full replacement. Are CD players young people’s latest vintage love?

Are CD players young people’s latest vintage love? YPulse has told you before that vintage tech is not making the full cultural comeback some headlines claim—but there are niche Gen Z collectors for some items. CDs are gaining renewed popularity with young people, who are driven by both the “analogue” experience of it and the fact that their favorite artists are releasing them again. (Like the limited edition Olivia Rodrigo CD that debuted in California last week.) Plus, CDs are far cheaper than vinyl, which originally was driving the physical media resurgence in music. Now, it’s something of a status symbol to be a CD listener, signaling that someone is their own tastemaker and doesn’t rely on the algo to pick songs for them. (The Guardian)

A young British influencer has found his perfect bench.

A young British influencer has found his perfect bench. Bristol local Sam Wilmot’s Instagram account @ratethisbench has more than 25K followers—yes, they’re truly invested in the 300 benches he’s reviewed. He’s a thorough scorer, posting long captions following his rubric to rate the benches out of 10, but really centers his project on the experience of having somewhere to sit, relax, chat, and interact with others. That’s why he’s just given his very first 10/10 to a bench which was previously rated 9/10, because it became perfect when he visited it on his wedding day. He says his wife has been a huge part of seven years of rating benches, acting as his photographer and travel partner, and that’s what makes this one—and many others—so special. (TODAY)

Desperados made a frozen beer jacket for young festivalgoers.

Desperados made a frozen beer jacket for young festivalgoers. We know that festival fashion is huge in Europe—and whether to spoil their look with a jacket for uncertain weather is always a debate. The brand has a solution with the Freeze-Fit jacket, a collab with designer Paolina Russo that actually cools wearers down with both hidden fans and pouches to fill with frozen beer. Owners of the limited edition coat can drink Desperados Freeze, the beer brand’s new frozen slush serve, straight from the jacket, making the garment both functional and experiential. Desperados is promoting it across socials, of course, but also letting attendees try it on at festivals across Europe. (Famous Campaigns)
