It’s easy to assume YouTube is just TV for Gen Z. After all, you’ve seen the headlines. Even YPulse has said that YouTube’s content now rivals cable and streaming giants in Gen Z’s eyes. But we’ve also said that while YouTube is absolutely entertainment for Gen Z, it’s also where they go for just about everything. And that’s what makes YouTube different from most other platforms—Gen Z goes there both to be entertained and to figure things out. YouTube is where they go to watch podcasts, gaming streams, creator content, and TV clips. And it’s also where they research products before they buy them, figure out what show to watch next, and teach themselves skills they were never taught in school.
