From Boy Kibble to Dubai Chocolate, The Viral Food Trends Gen Z is Trying

Gen Z is trying the viral food trends on their FYPs that are easy to access, fun to recreate, and impossible to ignore…

  • Dubai chocolate foods are the lasting viral trend Gen Z can’t seem to escape—and they’ve bought in
  • Young adults are tapping into trends that turn into cooking and eating into an activity, not just routine
  • Only a small share of Gen Z males have tried “manosphere-driven” food trends like beef tallow and boy kibble
Most Gen Z see themselves as adventurous eaters. YPulse’s Food Shopping and Trends report data shows 71% of 13-17-year-olds and 75% of 18-24-year-olds consider themselves somewhat / very adventurous, meaning they’re open to trying bold flavors, unexpected combinations, and the latest product drop from food brands they already love. Of course, a lot of that curiosity is being shaped—and accelerated—by social media. YPulse data shows 51% of teens and 63% of young adults make dishes inspired by trending food on social media, which can be as simple as recreating the viral cucumber salad, making a two-ingredient Japanese cheesecake, or trying a “hack” they saw in a 30-second TikTok. For brands, that creates a huge opportunity—but also a challenge.   Staying tapped into what’s trending matters more than ever, even if the trend feels niche. And because food content performs so well online, even a single viral moment can spark real-world demand. That’s why we’re seeing more limited-edition flavors, quick-turn product drops, and menu items designed to mirror what’s popular...
