For years, people have talked about how Millennials have moved away from religion—and many assumed Gen Z would follow suit. With the popularity of astrology, tarot, and other alternative practices, it’s been easy to believe that spirituality—not religion—was the direction this young gen would take. While those alternative beliefs are still very much present in Gen Z’s lives, YPulse’s research has affirmed for a while now that Gen Z is more likely than Millennials to say they’re religious. And lately, that narrative has seemed to pick up even more steam, as recent headlines are filled with claims like, “Gen Z is flocking to church,” “Young men are leading a religious resurgence,” and “More young people are buying Bibles and turning to prayer.” Even the Catholic Church is getting Gen Z attention, thanks mostly to memes surrounding the election of Pope Leo XIV.
