Despite the huge amount of time that young people are spending on social media, TV shows are still a massive part of their lives—and their media consumption habits. YPulse’s TV and Entertainment report shows that the majority are watching TV shows via streaming services, and Gen Z teens and young adults self-estimate spending an average of over eight hours a week watching TV shows. And while they’re renowned for binging their old comfortable favorites, the reality is that many prefer new TV content to a rewatch. Newly beloved series regularly go viral on social media (which is helping to drive their viewership) and, of course, inspire new fandoms.
