Disney is merging Hulu Live TV with Fubo, after the failure to launch Venu sports.Β Disney was set to create a sports streaming giant with ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery last year, but was blocked by a lawsuit from Fubo. Now, on top of a combined $220M settlement, Disney is adding Fubo to its Hulu Live TV package and together, the platforms have a combined 6.2M subscribers. Fubo will remain available on its own as well, but Disney will own roughly 70% of the business. Given that Fubo is a huge name in sports streaming, this merger makes serious competition for others in the businessβparticularly YouTube TV, who currently has 8M subscribers. (Tech Crunch)
