It’s no secret young people are addicted to their phones—they even say so themselves. YPulse data shows Gen Z and Millennials are spending an average of six hours on their smartphones alone each day. And with the number of other screens they frequent, that time majorly adds up. But these gens value their mental health too, so many are unplugging, or taking digital detoxes, to mentally reset. YPulse’s Tech / Device Usage survey asks 13-39-year-olds if they’ve ever “unplugged” (defining unplugging as when a person voluntarily takes a break from some form of technology for any amount of time) and 66% of Gen Z and Millennials say they have. Perhaps surprisingly, young adults 18-24-years-old are the most likely to have unplugged from their devices at 69%.   But simply taking a break from their screens can look different for everyone.
