Articles claiming “Gen Z, millennials drive adoption of AI for holiday shopping,” “One-third of consumers plan to use AI for holiday shopping,” and “Most holiday shoppers will use AI to select gifts this year” have made it sound like young people are handing over their gift lifts to ChatGPT and calling it a day. To be fair, brands and AI platforms have recently announced countless AI integrations to help young consumers while shopping. ChatGPT introduced a feature that lets consumers buy products directly through Shopify and Etsy. OpenAI partnered with Walmart so users can order items without ever leaving a chat window. Target is experimenting with AI with its Gift Finder and List Scanner to enhance 2025 holiday shopping.
