Lawmakers have consistently aimed to limit TikTok’s reach over the main concern that ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, might be compelled by the Chinese government to surrender the data of its 170M American users. And while Joe Biden has said he would sign it into law should it pass through the Senate, it’s important to note it would still implement a six-month period for the platform to divest from ByteDance— the ban would only go into effect if it does not.  TikTokers are making it a full-time priority to keep followers updated on the goings of the bill, from its supporters and opposers in the senate to the exact stipulations of the legal language.
