Frequently Asked Questions

YPulse AI for Starter relies entirely on YPulse content. It queries the text of every single article that YPulse’s youth experts  have published since 2013, all based on our proprietary survey data, to answer your most pressing questions on young people. YPulse AI does not use any documents published outside of YPulse or ypulse.com.

All North America insights are from surveys fielded among a nationally representative sample of n=1,500 13-39-year-olds in the U.S. and Canada, and Western Europe insights are from surveys fielded among a representative sample of n=2,500 13-39-year-olds in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK.

YPulse AI for Starter covers the same audiences we write about in our articles, which primarily include Gen Z, Millennials, teens, and young adults.

Information on all subaudiences, including splits by race, gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ+, and more are available with the enterprise version of YPulse AI.

YPulse AI is strictly trained not to hallucinate. Our prompts and training ensure that all answers come directly from our articles. We also have a monitoring system that continuously measures the “groundedness” of all responses that alert us whenever answers deviate from what we’ve written.

That said, there is still potential for inaccuracies or “hallucinations” under certain, limited conditions, a reality that is inherent to the current state of AI technology. As an example, questions can be engineered to produce very specific results that may be misleading when taken out of context.

We recommend as best practice to review the source text behind any responses to make sure the context and time frame is correct for any stats you may share out.

This is where you can quickly view the source text of any insights YPulse AI used to generate the response, and then find links to read the full articles.

The model is trained not to hallucinate, but it’s best practice to make sure the context and time frame is correct for any stats you may share out.

YPulse AI is trained to prioritize newer information over older information. However, dates are a bit tricky for AI models and they especially struggle with requests that use relative time frames such as “past 2 years.” If a specific time frame is needed for your query, simply use the Date Filters at the top left of the chat box to limit which documents YPulse AI can pull from.

If you don’t get the answer you want on the first try, just try again, it’s fast! The best way to get the hang of YPulse AI and get better at prompting is to experiment and iterate by asking lots of questions.

Here are additional key things to keep in mind:

  • Always refresh your session if you’re switching topics. The chat has memory which can sometimes impact later responses.
  • The insight you want might be available in the reports or survey data, but isn’t available in the articles included in Daily Intelligence.
  • The insight on the exact audience you want (e.g. teens) might not be available in the text, but is available for a broader group (e.g. Gen Z.
  • If you know the insight should be available, try rephrasing your question in different ways and asking follow up questions.
  • If you need insights only from a strict time frame, use the Date Filters.
