MTV’s Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant are being credited by some for decreasing birthrates among American teenage girls by showcasing the sobering reality of raising a child at a young age. The National Center for Health Statistics revealed that the birthrate for 15-to-19-year-olds has declined 9% between 2013-2014, and has declined 61% since 1991. The survey also found that the average age women are having children is now up to 26.3 years old. (BuzzFeed)
