A Singaporean Millennial couple brought their love for vintage fashion to life with Vintagewknd, a resale fashion brand.

A Singaporean Millennial couple brought their love for vintage fashion to life with Vintagewknd, a resale fashion brand. Eileen Tan and Eden Tay first started Vintagewknd back in 2015, but plans to finally take their business to the next level were set back because of the pandemic. Recently, the pair were finally able to expand their storefront and have turned what was once a side hustle selling clothes on Carousell into a Gen Z staple for all things ‘90s and Y2K fashion. Today, “Vintagewknd has recycled 50 tons of waste and rehomed and recreated about 100,000 items” and some of their most popular up-cycled pieces include tapestry corsets, patchwork jeans, and reworked halter tops. The brand’s Gen Z allure comes from frequently dropping “themed clothing collections inspired by iconic ’90s and 2000s cartoons, including the likes of Sailor Moon and My Little Pony” and also by posting styling videos inspired by TV and movie characters from the Marvel franchise and Netflix’s Stranger Things. YPulse’s Fashion Preferences & Style report data shows that nearly a quarter of young people of color say they’re interested in buying vintage and secondhand clothes. (Insider)
