Gen Alpha is already listening to podcasts—and parents want more from creators. Podcasting’s growth in recent years has been thanks to older listeners hopping aboard, but it’s the younger demographic who will keep the industry going. A new survey by United Talent Agency shows “50% of kids aged 3 to 12 currently listen to podcasts, and 32% listen at least weekly.” There is more opportunity than ever for creators and kids content with parents being okay with their kids having more screen time as long as they’re watching/listening to something educational; and this doesn’t necessarily mean learning about shapes and letters. The survey also revealed that the majority of parents want sociocultural issues integrated into their kids’ content. YPulse’s Representation in Action report data shows 43% of Millennial parents believe reflecting diversity and being inclusive is important in children’s entertainment. (InsideRadio)
