TikTok’s fashion “fit-fluencers” are pushing size inclusivity on the app. In recent years, young consumers have fueled a body positivity movement and it’s continuing as some of the app’s most popular “fit-fluencers” speak out against the fashion industry and brands like Brandy Melville, who offers “one size fits most” sizes, and Victoria’s Secret, who “still fumbl[e] with sizing inclusivity.” Denise Mercedes (whose @denisemmercedes account has 2.7 million followers) gained attention for posting photos and videos featuring plus-size clothing, and launched a digital series that inspired the hashtag #stylenotsize, which currently has 225 million views. Meanwhile, influencer Mik Zazon (a.k.a @mikazazon) created the #normalizenormalbodies movement that has led to “hundreds of thousands of social media posts with fans celebrating their own bodies.” According to Zazon, people need to “call [brands] out on their crap, because that’s how they learn.” (Glossy)
