Facebook Messenger may be falling behind in the race for young adult users as Snapchat and Instagram pull ahead—according to a prediction from eMarketer. Though Messenger “dominate[s] the chat app market in the U.S.”, the research firm is lowering its projections for user growth through 2021 based on findings that 18-24-year-olds are using Snapchat and Instagram more. WhatsApp, another Facebook-owned messaging app, is also picking up speed in the U.S., predicted to grow 9.5% this year. (Adweek)
