The My Friend Cayla doll and the Intelligent Robot pair with smartphone apps & require children to answer personal questions, like their name, date of birth and current location, during set up. The bill would require consent before toys could share this data with a company that contracts with military and intelligence agencies. We predicted that sensitivity about security issues in playthings will continue to grow—as will the number of AI toys available.
