Fast food is a cornerstone of dining for Gen Z and Millennials. YPulse’s recent Food Shopping and Trends report shows an astounding 94% of 13-39-year-olds have gone to a fast-food restaurant like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Taco Bell in just the last month. Another 90% have visited a fast casual restaurant like Panera Bread, Subway, or Chipotle within the same timeframe. Despite flashy food content online trying to entice them into new food experiences, the majority of young people are cutting back on their spending and 79% even agree, “Fast food feels like a splurge because of how expensive it is now.” When we ask Gen Z and Millennials what they think their generation’s favorite food is, YPulse’s Cooking and Diets report data shows burgers come in second right behind pizza, meaning their faves have stayed consistent over the years.
