“Bed rotting” is actually a form of self-care to Gen Z  The latest sensation sweeping Gen Z is “bed rotting,” a seemingly questionable self-care trend that’s gaining a recognizable name on social media. With over 2.2M views on TikTok, #RottingInBed may sound gross and unproductive, but it’s really just a harmless way young people are recuperating and recharging after a long day / week.   While rotting away in bed for hours, ordering takeout, and binging TikTok, YouTube, or their streaming service of choice isn’t an entirely new concept, the idea of it being lazy is changing for Gen Z. They’re rebranding it (as they do) as self-care and making it an acceptable way to combat their stress or anxiety. And that actually makes a lot of sense considering burnout is on the rise, especially among young women.
