Inspire, USA Foundation has named Ypulse Media founder Anastasia Goodstein as Director of Digital Programs. She will oversee the development of the Reachout.com service including the rollout of new online, social media and mobile applications. She remains a valuable advisor to the Ypulse team and will continue to play a role in future Ypulse events. Meredith Sires will succeed her as Editor-In-Chief of Ypulse.com. More

An investor group led by ZelnickMedia is acquiring youth-focused entertainment company and ad network operator Alloy Inc. in a cash deal valued at $126.5 million… As part of the transaction, Geraldine Laybourne, the former Nickelodeon CEO and Oxygen Network founder, will serve as the chairman. Alloy’s co-founders, Matt Diamond and Jim Johnson, will continue to run the company as CEO and COO, respectively. The rest of the Alloy senior management team is expected to remain in place as well. Also joining the Board is former COO, Marvel Entertainment, Bill Jemas, who will work closely with the company on merchandising, content and business affairs. Leslie Morgenstein, CEO of Alloy Entertainment will work closely with Laybourne and Jemas, focusing on Alloy’s entertainment assets. (press release)

Marvel Entertainment is launching a TV division, Marvel Television, and has appointed “Heroes” and “Smallville” writer-producer Jeph Loeb to run it. As EVP and head of television, Loeb will work alongside Dan Buckley, publisher & president of the print, animation & digital divisions of Marvel Worldwide to adapt Marvel characters and stories to television as both live-action and animation series. Ingvar Petursson is appointed SVP/Information Services, Nintendo of America. Petursson lead the multi-yearproject of modernizing Nintendo of America’s systems. Most recently, Petursson served as SVP and CIO, Expedia, Inc. He also held lead information technology positions as AT&T Wireless, Corbis Corporation and The Regence Group. (Cynopsis Kids)

Bolstering its policy team, Facebook just hired Marne Levine, chief of staff of the Obama Administration’s National Economic Council, as its new vice president of global public policy. “Levine will oversee the company’s interaction with governments and non-governmental organizations around the globe.” (MediaPost, reg. required)

Euro RSCG Worldwide has announced several newly created regional management roles in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific: Christian de La Villehuchet will join Andreas Geyr to take on the additional role of CEOs of Euro RSCG Europe. Ricardo Monteiro has been named CEO of Euro RSCG Ibero-America. Additionally, Juan Rocamora will take on the role of chairman of Euro RSCG Asia Pacific. (Ad Age, reg. required)

Hearst Corporation announced today that the longtime president of its worldwide magazine group, Cathleen P. Black, has been promoted to chairman of Hearst Magazines, and veteran publishing executive David Carey succeeds Black as president. Most recently, Carey was group president at Condé Nast, where he was a member of that company’s senior management team and also oversaw media properties targeted to business and executive audiences, including Wired and Golf Digest. Discovery Channel and Science Channel appoint Marina Anglim as SVP/Marketing, and Deena Edwards as SVP/Integrated Content. Both Anglim and Edwards will be based at Discovery Channel’s headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland and will report to Wonya Lucas, EVP and COO/Discovery Channel and Science Channel. Most recently Anglim, who has held several positions at Discovery Communications, was SVP/Media Planning and Partnerships. A 15-year veteran of Discovery Communications, Edwards has toiled across a variety of networks and departments for the company from ad sales to affiliate marketing to education. (Cynopsis Kids)
