Current Media has selected Ken Ripley as Executive Vice President of Advertising Sales. Ripley, who will be based in the company’s growing New York office, brings more than 20 years of traditional and new media advertising sales expertise to Current Media. (press release)
Summit Entertainment confirmed the hiring of Eric Kops as senior VP of publicity. He takes over from Vivian Mayer-Siskind, who is exiting when her contract expires. Mayer-Siskind helped launch the "Twilight" franchise for Summit (Variety)
Cartoon Network names Kitric Kerns to the newly created position of VP and Exec. Producer/Cartoon Network Digital. He will manage the overall strategy and development of content for CartoonNetwork.com. Most recently, Kernis was Director/Digital Media, ABC Daytime/SOAPnet. (Cynopsis Kids)
Comedy Central has hired Lisa Leingang as senior VP of original programming and development for the East Coast. Leingang who reports to topper Lauren Carrao, will oversee development and production on the cabler's pilots and series based out of Gotham. (Variety)
Pauline Malcolm-John has been named vice president of sales at WeeWorld. She had been director of East Coast sales at Slide Inc. (Virtual World News)
Virgin Media has poached seasoned Disney topper Cindy Rose. She will join Virgin Media Nov. 1 in the new post of executive director of television, effectively replacing content head Malcolm Wall, who left in March. (Variety)
Kidz Entertainment/EEMC appoints KJ Istok as its CEO. Istok takes on the new position following the departure of Anna Lisa McBride as CEO last month. Additionally, Slawek Eikert is named as the new country manager for Poland as Kidz/EEMC expands in key territories, specifically in Eastern Europe and Russia. (Cynopsis Kids)
Viacom unit MTV Networks International has appointed Chris Keely as VP Distribution for Southeast Asia and Greater China, with effect from next month. To be based in Singapore and report to Indra Suharjono, Keely was most recently general manager of MTV Networks in New Zealand. (THR)
Shingo Ishiyama has been named president and representative director at Fremantle Media, Japan. He had been board member, deputy president, and general manager of Animax Japan at Sony Pictures Entertainment. (Mediabistro, reg. required)
