Ypulse Youth Advisory Board Deadline For Applications July 31

Posted by anastasia on 07-24-2008

Just a quick post to remind folks that the deadline for the Ypulse Youth Advisory Board is July 31. We have 10 official spots for youth between the ages of 13 and 24. Thanks to readers getting the word out, we now have close to 300 applications! For information about the board and the application (which should be emailed to me, do not post it in the comments), see this earlier post.

While we will have 10 official board members, I plan to invite all interested applicants to join a private network on NIng — where they can still participate in an advisory role on upcoming projects and on Ypulse as youth correspondents. If there are companies out there interested in offering incentives, i.e. online coupons or ways to get fun free stuff to these teens, let me know. We have lots of international applications so stuff that can be redeemed online would be welcome. Or if you're willing to ship internationally, that would be cool, too. Fun stuff = books, music, virtual good coupons, etc.

P.S. I am also interested in launching a Totally Wired Youth Superstars competition this winter — the idea is that youth between the ages of 13-24 with web or mobile consumer businesses aimed at their peers would compete for four spots on the Totally Wired Superstar panel at the 2009 Ypulse Mashup in San Francisco. Judges would include past panelists, VCs and our Youth Advisory Board + community. In order to make this happen in a big way, we need a big sponsor (prizes would be trips to SF, special dinner with VCs, etc.). We would incorporate video presentations as part of the competition (i.e. YouTube component). I think this could be very cool and really big. We'll be approaching potential sponsors after our Boston event, but if this feels like a fit, feel free to get in touch with Charles Pelton today.
