Ypulse Essentials: My Political World, Tweens Still Love [Non-Tech] Toys, Skateboarders Thrash Shoes

My Political World (kind of like a MySpace for young politicos. Speaking of MySpace, MySpace Music is now finally live. And a little bird at Cramster, the online study community told me they just got $3 million in funding.)
- Tweens still love non-tech toys (plus lots more findings in research presented at the recent Sandbox Summit)
- Cosmetics full of chemicals (consumer groups "fret" over teen cosmetics, which is why I love this group.) (USA Today)
- An Inconvenient Youth (launches a tour to prevent global warming)
- Skateboarders and their shoes (the New York Times Style Section, reg. required, on how skate boarders go through lots of them)
- Fans have an emotional connection (with The CW show "Supernatural," which is experiencing a big ratings comeback. It's number 8 on a list of shows ranked by fans' emotional attachment. Number one? "Survivor.") (Media Life Magazine)
- Teen abortion rates (plummet) (Newsweek)
- You can't be online and chew gum at the same time (or at least Dentyne hopes not in its new youth-oriented ad campaign) (New York Times, reg. required)
- One percent of Amherst students have a landline (the rest are on Facebook. Fun stats from Clive Thompson. Plus surfing the net is a part time job for Canadian teens) (Winnipeg Free Press)
P.S. I'm speaking tomorrow morning at the Verizon Foundation's domestic violence summit here in SF so posting may be a bit late!
