Ypulse Essentials: Green Skateboards, Yahoo! Kickstart, iTunes U

Loop'dLoop’d launches (action sports social net loaded with sponsors like PacSun and Monster Energy. I’m no IP lawyer, but I might be worried about Loopt… Plus green skateboards! See more on green skating here) (News.com) (Current TV)

- Buddylube (The New York Times, reg. required, on a company helping musicians connect with fans online. Kylie Minogue doesn’t seem to need any help with this)

- Yahoo! Kickstart (for college students seeking jobs and career advice is now live. And evidently Twitter could save your life [how much people share with the world on Twitter just makes me feel old]) (AdAge.com, reg. required) (New York Times, reg. required)

- Facebook will introduce social shopping (and CosmoGIRL! and NearbyNow launch a new multimedia advertising program to drive teen shoppers into malls)

- VO5 is allegedly now ‘edgy and cool’ (plus how Scion keeps its cool) (Advertising Week)

- iTunes U (how universities like MIT are using iTunes to broadcast their lectures. TIME.com looks at whether the death of penmanship a bad thing. And a new study gives “helicopter parents” of college students a pat on the back.) (Washington Post, reg. required)

- MTV’s happiness study (is online)

- Hip hop, kung fu & comics (Next Great Thing explores the connection)

P.S. I’ve written two of my six short pieces for the girls over at Beinggirl.com as part of the book tour sponsorship. The first intro piece is here and the second, on identity theft, is here.

  1. Eric Jaffa Says:

RE: MTV’s Happiness Survey: “…people aged 13 to 24 who describe themselves as very spiritual or religious tend to be happier than those who don’t.”

People may be happier thinking that after they die, they will be floating on a cloud among angels playing harps, than thinking their deaths will be their last experience.

Doesn’t mean that the harp idea is true, though.
