disney1_190Disney Stores go high-tech (with a major makeover planned to turn them from retail stores into “cozy entertainment hubs.” Plus on a smaller scale, Tinker Bell gets a new tomboyish look for her straight-to-DVD movie. And Disney makes a tentative move into Twilight/True Blood territory buying the rights to a vampire trilogy based in New Orleans) (New York Times, reg. required) (USA Today) (Cinematical)

- First National Tween Girl Summit (Washington Post comes away with newfound optimism about girls today. Plus USA Today takes a closer look at issues tweens brought up with body image. And NBC takes a look at where media fits in. Look for a guest post on Ypulse from one of the tween attendees)

- MTV’s digital strategy (iMedia interviews Carolyn Everson, EVP of Strategy and Operations, on product integration with future trends in digital marketing. Also Verizon Wireless sponsors web mystery series Valemont U. And DJ AM’s “Gone Too Far” opens on a moving note) (CNN)

- ‘Glee’ cast dismissed (from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade lineup, which airs on NBC. Plus Nick announces the 7th Annual Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards) (E! Online) (Cynopsis Kids)

- InsideCollege (Alloy launches a college guide site. Plus video platform company Ooyala, also owned by Alloy, secures $10 million in funds for expansion)

- HPV: Fact Check (an innovative Facebook app targets teens looking for an anonymous resource to educate and spread awareness about the STD. Also lip gloss packaging that can detect date rape drugs. Great idea, but it doesn’t work with drinks that contain fruit juices or tonic water) (PSFK)

- Picture Perfect Hair Salon (a makeover game for DS. Just one of the many new releases from the video game industry targeting young girls and women) (WSJ)

- Steve Jobs (teens name the man responsible for the iPod as the celebrity entrepreneur they most admire. Also H&R blocks launches a program to teach high school students about  financial literacy) (Reuters) (Ad Age, reg. required)

Why does NBC get to choose who is in the Macy’s Day Parade?

It’s a public event. Don’t other networks cover it?
