Ypulse Essentials: 'Chuck' Graphic Novels, 'Secret Life' Viewing Parties, Kids Not 'Totally Wired'…Yet
Posted by anastasia on 08-12-2008
NBC's 'Chuck' gets graphic (with online graphic novels a la "Heroes." And SNL folks have been busy this summer creating a Web-only series of comic shorts called "The Line") (via Pop Candy) (New York Times, reg. required)
- More on teen Olympic viewing (Wired picks up the Harris Interactive release and interviews Bill Carter, from Fuse [a Ypulse sponsor]. Plus if young people are watching — it's most likely online. And while GM may be struggling to sell cars during the Olympics, they did create a new YouTube star) (Media Life Magazine) (Alley Insider)
- 'Secret Life' viewing parties (on Lycos. I wasn't aware of these…could this be the new way teens watch TV together? And Nickelodeon to launch a new series set in a school of performing arts starring "Zoey 101's" Victoria Justice) (Variety)
- Kids not yet 'totally wired' (according to this research kids under the age of 11 spend most of their time offline doing things like [gasp] reading books!)
- Allstate partners with Channel One ("to launch a multi-platform smart teen driving campaign during the 2008-2009 school year") (press release)
- 'Follow the music' (If MySpace offered a personal, immediate connection between musicians and fans, Loopt making that connection mobile. Oh and in case you were wondering who Obama will choose as his VP, he'll text ya later) (USA Today)
- Where have all the junk food ads gone? (online….causing many to "cry fowl.") (BusinessWeek)
- Coldstone mixes it up (like Ben & Jerry's, Coldstone is also online trying to reach younger ice cream eaters with a contest)
- 'Dear World' (Girls Inc. wants girls to share their message with the world)
P.S. Mobile Youth is really good at pointing to cool .ppt presos online. Most recent were decks on London and Shanghai youth trends.
P.P.S. We had a broken link in Friday's Ypulse Essentials to a Mercury News story about the tween mag Discovery Girls (that link should work!).
