Note from Anastasia: I will be traveling to Chicago tomorrow for the first "stop" on the Totally Wired book tour. I will attempt to post very early Thursday morning and then on Friday before flying home. I'm trying to add a few dates at schools or libraries in the Boston or New England area on either October 8, 9 or 11th. Please contact me if you're interested in setting something up.

Alpha KittyAtoosa launches Alpha Kitty (on YouTube featuring clips from "alpha kitties" like YouTube star Esmee Denters. I'm starting to get a feel for the emerging brand. It makes me wonder, "Am I an alpha kitty?" Update: He is definitely an alpha kitty. And Atoosa says: "Anastasia is QUEEN of the Alpha Kitties!" Aw shucks. )

- Evidently, America loves a train wreck (as if we didn't know this from the popularity of the "American Idol" audition shows….VMA ratings go way up compared to last year. Plus MTV kills iFilm and folds it into Spike TV) (Broadcasting & Cable) (AdAge.com, reg. required)

- American Eagle's webisodes (not going over too well with some in the gay community. Plus check out this very cool new site "designed to expand and broaden the resources available to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth vulnerable to emotional distress and suicide" from The Trevor Project) (After Elton)

- AT&T's teen colors ("Later this month, the company is releasing a teen-oriented feature that let's consumers build their own 'digital personality' by swirling together colors representing their online activities. They can then post their unique color on social networking profiles, blogs and other personalized sites." Plus comic books are going mobile. And, you can now get Meez ringtones!) (Washington Post, reg. required)

- Caffeinated kids (Starbuck's admits that kids and teens are part of its consumer base) (MSNBC)

- She didn't look 14… (FHM in the UK is censured for publishing a topless photograph of a 14-year-old girl) (The Guardian)

- Racy teen ads (has "Good Morning America" seen an Axe commercial?)

- Targeting teens (Youth Communications latest issue is all about marketing and consumerism…from the teen perspective. Includes articles on the Starbury shoe, Truth campaign and more. Plus check out the winners of the Samsung Fresh Films competition [Samsung Fresh Films is a Ypulse advertiser])

- Hey '08 candidates trying to reach youth! (here's an issue for you — health insurance. The Young Invincibles) (New York Magazine)

- Cyberbullying PSA contest (sponsored by Sony)

- 'Facebook won't kill us' (interview with MySpace Europe's Jamie Kantrowitz) (Paid Content)

  1. Eric Jaffa Says:

The official text explaining Alpha Kitty says, "Someone who's brave, creative, fierce, passionate and…well, yes, weird. Weird is the new normal, haven't you heard?"

Esmee Denters isn't fierce and weird, as far as I can tell.
