downloading musicIllegal downloading drops again (fear of viruses, spyware and getting sued are beginning to dampen teens' love of free music according to new research out from Harris Interactive and the Business Software Alliance) (press release)

- Young people are more comfortable with ads (on user generated content sites…makes sense) (ComScore)

- Social networking for the faithful (a good round-up of religious social networks from BizWeek — I never heard of Shmooze! Plus there's a new social networking site just for skateboarders)

- Somagirls.tv (a new site hoping to attract teen girls and young women…I think it will be an uphill battle….It will be interesting to see how Gawker's latest, Jezebel, which is aimed at young women will do as well. I have to confess, I have personally become addicted to the Sugar sites in this category.)

- More on the effectiveness of tobacco and alcohol ads (with youth) (New York Times, reg. required)

- The Phonebuster (problem with technology? Like cell phones going off in class or kids cheating with them? Technology will also provide the solution. Plus are Spark Notes cheating? They just seem like online Cliff Notes, which have been around forever) (Yakima Herald)

- Beacon Street Girls get smart (and team with Sally Ride Science to "to nurture girls and their love of math and science") (press release)

- Coming this July… (ChicaGirl Magazine, an online mag for Latina girls - thanks Jerry!)
