Note from Anastasia: I'm really excited to be here in Chicago — I haven't been back since I graduated from Medill in 1999. I'm going to visit my friends at eCrush this afternoon then am off to speak and sign books at Borders in LaGrange tonight. I will be on ABC in Chicago tomorrow morning at the ungodly hour of 5:20 a.m., and then am off to Medill to speak at a "brown bag lunch" for journalism students. Finally, tomorrow night I'll be speaking and signing at Borders in Evanston before going to Starved Rock to give two workshops on Friday. All to say, I'm not sure if I'll be posting tomorrow or not. If I do, it will be pretty light.

Urban Outfitters launches a blogUrban Outfitters gets bloggy (with a new "horizontal" blog…Plus MTV redesigns [thank you MTV, it's much better now]) (via Fimoculous)

- Music & lyrics (Yahoo! Music adds lyrics…very smart since we know teens love to put them on their profiles) (Yahoo! blog)

- Internet 'Idols' (sites like Bix, which is owned by Yahoo!, HowFamous and OurStage try to recreate the "American Idol"-like phenomenon online)

- College students don't understand copyright laws (um…who does besides lawyers? I worked at TV networks where producers didn't fully understand the boundaries of fair use) (Broadcasting & Cable)

- Time to talk (the government is trying to get parents to talk to their teens about drugs with this site…) (press release)

- Band in the bubble (kind of like when John Travolta was "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" or when Bubble Boy was in a bubble, except it's a band, sponsored by Dr. Pepper for a reality series on MTV) (Dallas Morning News)

- Schools looking into texting (as an emergency alert system after Virginia Tech…Also, according to the Irish government, texting is ruining Irish youth when it comes to their writing skills) (USA Today) (AP via SFGate)

- Mark Burnett to launch 'Independent' ("Survivor" creator to launch a new political reality series…where else? On MySpace.) (L.A. Times, reg. required)

- California youth focusing inward ("The survey of 600 California residents ages 16 to 22 commissioned by New America Media found that they are inwardly focused — on their future marriages, parenthood, homeownership, education and communities.") (SFGate)

- 'Evan Almighty' (goes green by partnering with the Conservation Fund…I blogged the other day how "Year of the Dog" partnered with PETA…do I smell a trend here?)

- 'The 99' (a muslim comic "about truth, justice, and the Islamic way") (The Christian Science Monitor)
