Budweiser t-shirtDo t-shirts lead to drinking? (Hmmm…chicken or egg dilemma for me. This new study posits that teens who wear them drink more) (WebMD)

- Goal! Joga! (Google and Nike's new social networking site for soccer fans) (New York Post, reg. required)

- What will kill MySpace? (maybe nothing, but danah argues it's the "moral panic," the self policing sites will now have to do, and impending legislation…or it could just be the lack of major brand advertisers) (Media Post, reg. required)

- GTR Consulting (aka Gary Rudman) launches a new research report on teens and tech (love the topic names: The Flux Gen, iJunkies, The Digital Disguise, The Chill Challenged, MTVneer) (press release)

- Teens let their fingers do the walking (just not through the Yellow Pages) (Media Post, reg. required)

- I can't even remember being asked to prom… (I just remember going for about 15 minutes. Today's teens get "prom proposals," which I think is the outcome of the prom industry and the media marketing the event like a junior wedding) (USA Today)

- MTV launches, er relaunches in Canada (with six different platforms!) (Lost Remote)

- Tweens rule cable (once "underserved," now tween programming [and advertising] is everywhere) (Newsday via Star-Telegram.com)

- Generation Wireless (Adage.com, reg. required, looks at how "mobile" teens really are)

The things that will kill MySpace are:

    - online safety outrage
    - lack of REAL monetization
    - illegal use of html ;)
    - the rise of social sites that work in conjunction with video sharing sites, offer video games, flash animation, IM integration, VoIP integration, video chat, etc. (hmm… am I tooting my own horn here? LOL)

Nah, nothing will kill MySpace. Teens/Adults are coming online in record numbers. MySpace isn't going to die, but it will slow its growth as more user-friendly sites come out of beta and steal their thunder.

Most of us have more than one profile. Shoot, I have 6 profiles that I use DAILY!

Who ever said you have to choose? You can have a facebook, myspace, moooble, bebo, orkut, smallworld, world of warcraft (yes, it's a place to hang out), etc.

I shop at hundreds of different places, why do I have to limit myself to one place I hang out with my friends?

News Corporation (Fox) can advertise its own TV shows on MySpace. It doesn't need other advertisers.
