Ringback at Ya

Posted by anastasia on 06-28-2004

As if the butchering of popular music in the form of ringtones isn’t annoying enough, BusinessWeek Online reports on ringbacks, a phenomenon that has (of course) already swept Asia where the caller gets to listen to musical rings that sound like pop songs until the person you’re calling picks up. The article talks about Britney and Avril ringtones and discusses the “youthful pitch” meaning the hope is that American teens will add to the $2.3 billion ringtone market by purchasing ringbacks as well.
