Rate-A-Company
Posted by anastasia on 04-09-2007A while back I posted about how cool it would be if someone launched a site where you could really find out just how socially responsible companies really are. YouthNoise just launched a section of its site where users get to "fill in the blanks" with their own ratings and comments for companies like Starbucks and Gap. Each company has a profile with information on everything they're doing to be good corporate citizens, then YouthNoise members get to grade them. From the site:
"Corporations are finally listening to the new demands of youth about involved electronics, green gear, and caring consumerism. So NOW it’s finally ripe for you to be heard and tell the world about the corporations that are actually doing good—and the ones who could and should learn to play nice. Weigh in and rate companies based on what they’re doing. Like Virgin Mobile’s homelessness action? Rate it. YN will only partner with corps that NOISEmakers deem worthy. Give the YN stamp of approval the weight of the world. Let it mean something for a company to earn it. Then, these companies will wear the YN approval like a badge of honor which they can flash to influence others to step up to do right. So click and rate, write your own guidelines for corporations to follow if they want your dinero, and create some change with your voice."
