World AIDS Day on BET (music countdown show, 106 & PARK, dedicates a full episode to the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic, along with other weeklong programming events. Also Alicia Keyes performs live on YouTube as global ambassador for Keep a Child Alive, a non-profit dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment for children in Africa and other developing countries. Plus a look at some great teen-driven efforts in Oregon) (LiveDaily) (Oregon Live)
- Current airs Ford Fiesta Movement Awards (featuring a ceremony honoring the Fiesta “agents,” a performance by the band Parachute and a sneak preview of the 2011 Ford Fiesta)
- ‘Dawn’ broken? (Summit considers the pay off of splitting Twilight’s “Breaking Dawn” into two films. Plus Warner Bros. snaps up the film rights to recently released supernatural YA series “Beautiful Creatures”) (Variety)
- ‘I was a teenager in..’ (loving this art exhibit that recreates teenage bedrooms from different decades) (Dezeen)
- ‘Giant’ magazine shutters (its print edition to focus more on the digital property Giantlife.com. Also rumors start swirling about the end of Jewish hipster mag Heeb) (AllHipHop) (Gawker)
- Cory Doctorow on kids and tech (always nice to hear an interview on the positive side to growing up wired. Also a great piece on the ongoing research at UCI’s Digital Media & Learning Research Hub around the educational and recreational use of the net and digital media by young people. And MJ and ‘Twilight’ make the top ten search queries for 2009 on Yahoo) (YouTube) (PhysOrg) (Tech.Blorge)
- Is everyone else doing it? (NurtureShock authors Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman on teens’ perception of the “norm” for risky behaviors, the reality, and why the gap matters. Also Michael Vick talks to middle school students about poor choices) (Newsweek) (Baltimore Sun)
- LG launches ‘Give It A Ponder’ (a multi-media campaign targeting so-called “Tabloid Teens” and encouraging them to take that extra minute before hitting send)

Y’know, i’m surprised that there aren’t more posts on cory doctorow, he’s all about that YA fiction. you can hardly go a day on boing boing without reading a post on YA fiction or issues or whatnot.
World AIDS Day coverage: good to see. I fear that so many, especially young people, have forgotten or are simply misinformed (not that serious, no one dies of that anymore, you can just take some medicine, etc.).
Two Breaking Dawns? Two words: cha ching!
LG campaign: Great idea, and I assume LG did their market research for branding, but how many teens do you know that use words like “ponder”?
On this, world aids day, i have also tried to do something regarding awareness and to get more people towards this social cause for aids world or aids affected persons. If you want to know something about the origin and some facts about the aids world and world aids you can visit
