Teens Choosing iPod Touch As iPhone Alternative

While we all know teens want the iPhone, the reality is that most teens (and their parents) can’t afford it. Ypulse Youth Advisory Board Member Caroline Marques offers her take on what she sees her friends adopting instead: Apple’s iPhone Touch (naturally). Remember, you can communicate directly with any member of the Ypulse Youth Advisory Board by emailing them at youthadvisoryboard at ypulse.com.
Teens Choosing iPod Touch As iPhone Alternative
This Christmas, I asked for a new iPod since I didn’t have any more space on my Nano. I was really hoping to get the iPod Touch—it was new and it had a screen! Now at my school about eight in 10 teens have it. The people who don’t have the iPhone –- or perhaps the new Nano. Even though the Nano is newer, the iPod Touch is better. It’s more expensive than most iPods, but it has much more to offer, too. All the teens I know have one or want one.
Parents know their kids want the iPhone, but it’s still too expensive so they get them the iPod Touch instead – almost the same thing (and really, who would want the iPhone it’s so much heavier than the iPod Touch!).
My friends all love it, and now I never leave without it. You can check your email, play a game, listen to music and watch a movie if you’re bored on the bus, which is heaven for the teens I know. There are a ton of fun applications, from awesome games like “Tap Tap Revenge” to Google Earth. You can check anything from Perez to the NY times. I know teenagers love it because it offers a variety of everything they love, lots of choices. It’s also stylish, sleek and classy. You can take notes whenever you need to remember something, or go on YouTube to have a laugh. I know teens use it in school, at home, wherever, whenever.
Though it might be replaced by the next big thing [or the iPhone when that becomes cheaper], I think this one is here to stay…at least for a while.
About Caroline
Caroline is a high school student in Geneva, Switzerland. While Caroline lists sports, music and travelling as her hobbies, she also very much enjoys writing and reading. After being a teen adviser for NickMag, she thought Ypulse would be the perfect opportunity for a new start. While trying to keep up with the trends (or setting some of her own), dance classes, working on long papers and trying to master three new languages, she rarely has time to write the novel she wishes she could finish, though she is certain one day she will. Writing is never far from her thoughts.
