My friends (and advertisers) at Buzz Marketing sent some scoop on a new deal inked between "Laguna Beach's" Jessica Smith and St. Martin's Press (also my publisher!) for her to be the 2006 spokesperson for the popular youth-oriented "Let's Go" travel guides. From the release:

"Star of the MTV reality series Laguna Beach, Smith will be traveling to Europe for the first time for a four-city 'Spring Break' backpacking trip, Let's Go style, as well as making personal appearances to talk about her experiences abroad.

Jessica was selected to be the Let's Go spokesperson because of her down-to-earth appeal and her enthusiasm for new experiences – qualities which fit perfectly with the Let's Go philosophy and which make the travel guide series so popular with young adults and college students across the country. Jessica will be making her on-the-road adventures interactive to travelers and fans around the world by blogging, podcasting, and posting photos from the trip on her website. She will also be gathering information on local budget finds, fun areas of interest for younger travelers, hot entertainment spots and more, which she will report back in her blog – and which Let's Go will use for future books in the series. In addition, Jessica will be actively exploring volunteer opportunities during her trip, which will be detailed in her blog entries from Europe as well.

For this 'Spring Break' trip, Jessica will be visiting London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam from March 10-20 and, in addition to corresponding directly with her peers via the internet, will be conducting media interviews both during and following her vacation."
