Buzzfeed has hired Jeff Greenspan to serve as its first Chief Creative Officer as the fast-growing digital-media company is becoming more involved in sponsorship projects and ad units. Greenspan previously worked at Facebook where he collaborated with agencies and marketers to develop ads and campaigns that Facebook users would want to share. He also has worked at Greenspan worked at Omnicom Group's BBDO, New York and Interpublic Group of Cos.' R/GA. In this new role, Greenspan will oversee a 15-person creative team. He is also adding two new members two his team: Chris Baker, formerly of Google and BBDO, and one of the creators of the Unbaby.me browser plug-in that filters out baby photos from Facebook news feeds; and Mike Lacher, who worked with Messrs. Nickelodeon appoints Russel Hicks to the newly created position of President of Content Development and Production, replacing Brown Johnson, who exits the company. Hicks has been with Nickelodeon for fourteen years and has served as the CCO since 2008. In this position, he oversaw all of Nickelodeon's creative, on-air promotions, consumer products, brand and advertising divisions. Prior to working at Nickelodeon, he served as VP of marketing for Cartoon Network/Turner brands for Warner Brothers.
In Hick's new role, he'll be responsible for leading the company’s live-action, animation development and production teams for all of the company’s content platforms. Margie Cohn has also been promoted to the new Nickelodeon role of President of Content Development for Live-Action, Animation and Digital.
