From The Ypulse WTF Files

Is it me or are students being expelled more often for stuff that clearly doesn't warrant such harsh punishment? Take this latest incident involving a group of teen guys who made a spoof horror movie where teddy bears attack a teacher who coincidentally has the same last name of a teacher at their school. From the article:

"The movie is billed by its teenage creators as a 'South Park'-inspired spoof of the 1980s horror film, 'Puppet Master.'

The real-life teacher learned of the movie from the school's principal, who learned of the movie from a parent, reported NBC Indianapolis affiliate WTHR-TV.

When a local prosecutor decided no laws were broken, the teacher requested a protective order from police. School records show the students were then expelled for the rest of the school year."

WTF?

Definitely feels like an overreaction to me, especially since the film wasn't even made at school and it's so obviously a spoof. Contrast this with the kids in Canada who intentionally provoked a teacher in class, recorded him losing his temper, and then posted the video on YouTube. See my post on that one over at Totally Wired.
