Mandy MooreBryan, who does PR for Photobucket (a Mashup sponsor) wrote to tell me about their new Mandy Moore mashup promotion:

"From now until April 30, Photobucket users and Mandy Moore fans are invited to create video mash-ups from their own personal content (photographs, graphics, artwork, video) remixed with branded Mandy Moore images, video and music assets provided by the artist. The mash-ups are created with Photobucket’s new web-based remix service, powered by Adobe, Inc. and available free of charge to all Photobucket users. The best entry will win an opportunity to have Moore perform at their high school graduation."

I'm sure it would be great to have Mandy at your high school graduation, but there is something unforgettable about when your classmates perform. At my high school graduation, two of the "theater chicks" performed a duet of "Wind Beneath My Wings." It was, um, definitely classic.

DK from Media Snackers was just in South Africa working with youth to cover the 5th World Summit on Media for Children. Check out his wrap-up post full of photos, links, "vodcasts" and more.

Karen wrote pitching Voice Thread, a new audio blogging technology. She wrote:

Group Audio Blogging allows Internet users to create "voicethreads" much like a blogger would create a blog post. While a blog post is a written entry, a "voicethread" allows a two way conversation using audio and imagery.

- High school graduates can record their friends' voices in an audio yearbook
- Comments posted to blog entries can evolve into an audio debate
- MySpace users can enhance their profiles and use voicethreads to talk to their friends

Who knows if this will take off with teens, but she sent this example of an "American Idol" Voice Thread for Ypulse readers to check out.

Ypulse reader Phil wrote to tell me about his new site Street Peeper - I know good URLs are hard to find, but I find the word Peeper to be a bit creepy. He wrote:

"You can click on a city to see it's image galleries, but each photo lists what the person is wearing, i.e Blue DIESEL Jeans, Black MARC JACOBS Heels, VINTAGE Black Top, etc, etc - but then what you can do is click on something like "MARC JACOBS" and see all the other people around the world who are wearing Marc Jacobs. Or you can just type in something to search for like "Floral Print" or whatever. So you can see how the kids dress in every city — it's kinda voyeuristic and vain and all…

For brand managers or marketing/PR people at fashion labels, they can track to see how their brand is being worn, and with what other labels, and in what cities, etc. And for advertisers, the audience is pretty much fashionable, cosmopolitan, 18-30 year olds.. But I guess for, you know, normal people, it's pretty fun…"

These types of fashion sites seem to be popping up everywhere - see also:

  1. Chris Yeh Says:

One of the girls at school sang "You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings" at my high school graduation as well–wearing a purple dress, no less. (Shudder)
