Cosmo Girl Blogging, Atoosa to Follow?
Posted by anastasia on 05-02-2005MediaWeek posted a story rounding up the latest efforts by teen mags to leverage technology in order to connect with readers. I posted about CosmoGIRL and ELLEGirl's mobile efforts back in March, and about how Teen People has partnered with Flyxt to launch its mobile program a couple of weeks ago. What's new in the MediaWeek piece is CosmoGIRL's relaunch of their site, which now includes blogs, and Seventeen's Atoosa Rubenstein saying she might launch a blog in conjunction with the "America's Sweetheart" competition. MediaWeek also reports Seventeen will be launching its own daily horoscopes and original content for a monthly fee of $2.49, the ability to text votes on mag polls and vote via phone for "Sweetheart." CosmoGIRL's new site looks great btw…I'm glad they jumped on the blogging bandwagon. I think their readers will be, too. It definitely creates a more intimate connection between the editors and the readers. It's the conversation model Sassy invented but redefined the two-way medium that is the Web.
