CBC Has Nerve
Posted by anastasia on 01-20-2005I stumbled across a CBC site promoting a new youth-driven TV show called 'Nerve' set to debut sometime in 2005. I don't know if the show is riffing off a pre-existing print or online zine or what. Here's the show description:
"Each episode of nerve starts with a question or a phrase - 'Can I See Some I.D.?', 'I'm Outta Here', 'Fight! Fight! Fight'. We take that phrase and riff off it through a collection of short films, mini docs, crazy videos, comic strips…whatever we want. And, there's no annoying 'hey, look at how cool I am!' host telling you what to think - we let YOU figure out your OWN thoughts about the show. Just youth telling their own unique stories in their own creative voices."
They have one really moving "mini-doc" online called "Too Sad to Live, Too Rare to Die" that features video and audio recollections from friends and family of "Frederick," who committed suicide after losing his battle with depression.
If I have any readers who work at the CBC, who can tell me more about this project and get me a tape of one of the Nerve episodes, I would love to see it…
